I suspect it is not all that effective and somewhat reliant on how effective the cooling system is, judging from its design. But every little bit helps, so.......

I would be interested in some hard research info on it as well.

I have ditched mine and am going to use the B&M 28000gvw race tranny cooler to cool my oil.

I saw a study done were you got more engine life by lowering the oil temp. It was a dramatic result they came up with.

I heard when the corvette switched to synthetic Mobil One, GM stopped installing the engine oil cooler. I understand the oil cooler is dual purpose, bring the engine oil up to operating temp faster (oil needs to be warm to flow properly) and then keep it at that temp.
Mine won't fit around the large harmonic balancer on the ZZ4
