ticking noise too

I have the same problem but it ticks at idle and when the engine revs. But the wierd part is that it goes away sometimes. One day it will go away for a few days and when i beat on it it comes back, i'm thinking it is a lazy lifter what do you guys think. I have a ZZ4 engine that has only about 8000 miles on it. Thanx

Mine does the same thing after I changed cams a couple of months ago. I also suspect a lifter...have you tried readjusting your valves? I adjusted mine with the motor running and it still ticks on the passenger side from idle to about 1500 rpms. If you can narrow down which side it ticks, you may just be able to adjust the valves for that cylinder. I haven't noticed any loss in power so I haven't worried about it too much.

BTW, are you a 53 Pavelow guy?
