smog pump for A.I.R system

If I dis-connect the smog pump for my A.I.R. system and pull the hoses out and plug the hose ends and tubes in the exhaust manifolds, do I need to get a shorter serpentine belt, or is there a vendor who sells an idler pulley to take the place of the smog pump pulley? Also can I expect the ecm to give me a trouble code as well as a "SERVICE ENGINE SOON" warning indicator? Will removal of the smog pump and A.I.R. system have any detrimental effects on driveability as well as engine performance?
I figured while I was working on my idle problem, I might as well do away with all the above at the same time. Having to pass emissions in Hawaii is just about non-existent.
Thanks for your ideas ahead of time guys and gals.

If you want to get exact on the belt it 96.5" my stock belt is 98" routed the same way it is in the tech article from the factory so to remove the air pump it needs to be 1.5" shorter on my application it should will work on yours too:lala:
