Got these heads for free! Are they any good? casting # 14022601 for 305
Wanted some good heads for porting to put on my girlfriends 90 RS that now has #187 casting swirl port heads. I got these in pretty good condition........though they still need new seals, but they were free! No rust or anything.......they look good, and best of all.........no swirl port stuff as far as I can tell. Anybody know anything about these heads? Aren't they just LG4 heads with a different #??

302 with some "goodies"
2007 Supercharged SS Cobalt, 2.7" blower pulley, some other stuff.....
14022601...80-86...267/305......1.84"/1.5" valves, 58cc chambers, There nothing special, but with a good port job, and some bigger intake valves, you should be able to make decent power with them.
With porting and a bigger intake valve this heads have
at least as much budget street potential as the "416" castings.
They even have a better chamber shape.
Go for it.
I took them apart and cleaned them today with some hydrocloric acid (courtesy of a pool cleaning shop) and some engine degreaser................they actually look really good! I'm really surpised. I can see that is a lot of material "meat" to remove on the radii and after that is done and the guides are cut down these heads look like they'll make really decent power. I'm not even going to rebuild them, just going to install new seals and springs, new head gaskets and slap em on her camaro after I'm done porting them this week. It'll be interesting to see how much power the ported 416 style heads add over the crappy 187 heads. These heads will be going onto a 350 short block I'm building for the camaro sometime around Christmas, but I'll throw em on the 305 so we can have a little extra power NOW I'll post pics after I'm done porting em.
