serpentine belt conversion question

this seems a little odd, but i want to convert to a serp belt setup with just a water pump, crank, alt, and power steering...........no A/C or Smog pump.........can this be done?

if so what parts do i need?

thanx in advance

I think there is a ac delete pulley you need for that to work. Removing the smog pump is no sweat though. You just use a shorter belt. I'm pretty sure there is a tech article on this sight about doing this and it gives you the belt lenth and gates part number.

You can do it. There is an AC delete pully you can purchase and you can delete the smog pump and reroute the belt or pick up the smog pump delte pully.

Or... you can pick up the driver side bracket with the alternator and and power steering pump and mount the alternator off of the the three bolts on the front of the head. You'll have to make up some short brackets to get it too work, but nothing too fancy. Then you just run the belt around everything. Takes up a lot less room and is pretty simple. Now that I've said all that, I'm not sure how well it works. I've actually got everything figured out and put together, but the car doesn't actually run yet to see if it works okay. If you look in the power adder forum for the post about the 10.xx run on nitrous take a look at the way he mounted his alternator. Thats kinda how I'm doing it. HTH's.

Here's the picture...

I'm using the stock power steering bracket, but I do have a March alt. bracket. I probably will get there PS bracket in the future, but for now It works.
