IF im not mistakend, you should touch the starter cable(pos battery cable at the starter) to the ignition wire (purple most the time). it is a post on the selinoid just cross with the screw driver.
does it click, when you turn the key? if it does, its a washer in the selinoid that needs to be replaced. hope that helps and if anyone has some other than that feel free.

All you have to do is jump the two posts on your starter. One is the heavy red live battery cable and the other is a purple (color may vary) wire that is connected to the small post of the starter. Heres a couple of articles on how to wire it. I had the same problem. Before rewiring. Get a test light ground it and touch it to the small post on the starter. Have someone turn the key all the way forward. If it lights up then the wiring is not the problem and it may be a faulty selenoid or various other problems. If it doesnt light up try running a new wire. I posted how to do it. Good Luck
