How take the IAC apart from the Throttle body
When I take my ram air duct off and I am looking directly at the throttle body there are the two butterfys facing me (horizonal, front to back) in between them on the bottom inside the TB down towards the ground (vertical) there is a hole about the size of a dime. Is this where I would spray throttle body cleaner. Also how exactly do I remove the IAC, do I unscrew the big hex head by where the plug plugs in (I guess this is the IAC itself) or do I take the hex head or torx screw out from the bottom of the throttle body (I guess this is the part that connects to the TB and the IAC screws into)? What tools do I need to use to remove the IAC with the (big hex head)? I hope everyone can under stand this post cause this was hard to explain without pics.

By your description it seems you have a TBI. The "Big Hex" is the outer end of the IAC stepper motor. Unplug the wire, then unscrew the IAC motor from the throttle body. Use whatever suitable wrench you have, either a fixed wrench, adjustable, or large socket (although a socket could be diffficult to fit onto the IAC). Just avoid the use of any kind of pliers. When you reintall the IAC, make sure teh pintle is fully retracted, the gasket is serviceable, and you torque the unit to only 18-22 INCH pounds on your TBI.
As for the IAC air passages in the throttle body, there is a hole in the top of the TBI adjacent to the IAC motor, somewhat smaller than a dime. You could try spraying a cleaner through this opening while the engine is running to help clean the IAC, seat, and passages.

Vader thanks for the info. I should have been more clear I have TPI and the IAC looks pretty hard to get with any tool. Does the auto parts sale the gasket for the IAC or do I need to go to the high priced dealer. Thanks John

You can get a socket, or use a wrench. There is not a lot of extra space in that area, but it can be done. If my memory serves me, the hex is 1-1/8" or 1-1/4".
For TPI, once everything is clean and dry, replace the gasket if it is damaged, apply a little anti-seize to the threads, and torque the IAC to the proper specs. (13 ft/lb for '85-'89 , 30 in/lb for 1990-on.)
