Fuel pump change on 4th gen camaro.

I need to change the fuel pump in a 2000 camaro with a 3800 V6.

Anyone done it and how bad a job is it?

This thing is pricey..$420

Thanks
Lonnie

420$?!?! what I thought the 4th gen pumps were the same as the 3rd gens??

Also the procedure is exactly the same on a 4th gen as a 3rd gen. The rear suspension is setup identically almost.

You cant buy just the pump,it comes as an assembly, pump, sender, the whole works.

I just hope i dont have to drop the rear.

Not that bad of a job( good thing since it did not fix the problem)

Did not have to drop the rear at all, did not have to remove the exhaust but did have to drop it down. removed two heat shields and two rear suspension pieces that i do not know the name of(easily removed). Disconnect the fuel and electrical connections, two tank straps and the filler hose.

Total time from start to finish 2.5 hrs

The early 4th gens use the same type of fuel pump.
Around '96-'97 GM changed the pumps to a 1 piece module which includes the sending unit. I've seen some Astro Van FP modules go for $600!!!!!!!! Rediculous.

As far as the replacement procedure, it's identical EXCEPT that 4th gens have the charcoal cannister in the rear fender and the all the hoses have to be disconnected from it.
