Damn cold weather!!!!! :(

Yesterday morning was the first day it snowed, and it was extremely cold. I fired up my camaro, it idled regular (1500) with the choke on for about a minute or two, I tapped the gas and it dropped to about 750 rpm as usual. I went to put it into gear, and it stalled. Tried it again and again, but still the same thing. Then it just would'nt idle at all.

It ran mint all summer/fall, and yesterday was the first time it stalled since I bought it.

I'm figuring my open-element breather is sucking in WAY to much cold air, not giving the engine a chance to warm up. I picked up a stock breather and heat riser valve from the wreckers today, hoping that's the solution to the problem.

Has anyone else had this problem before?

You've likely zeroed in on the problem. The EFE system on teh stock air cleaners is designed just for that purpose, and will work well as long as you install the complete unit, with heat riser, snorkel, and stove. Hopefully the "winter" air cleaner you selected has a working Thermac valve.
