When the bore gets worn too much you should get rid of the block and get a nice fresh one that way you dont have to worry about blow by on your power stroke. Oh, and mark, you are a moderator now you shouldnt laugh at this kind of stuff. j/k

You should go out to a dyno and get a pull with your old heads, then do the head install. Then go back and get another pull with the new heads. I would also get em' flow tested, I'd like to see some numbers, see if they actually stack up to what they print.

You mean I have to use a header gasket on these heads.
The gasket is up to you Mark. Did I mention gaskets????

I have found with large D shaped exhaust port the only headers that will cover the ports and seal are 1 3/4 primaries.

no, they're not on, it was too cold this past weekend whne I was at home. Hopefully this coming weekend though.

I think I found the culprit to my sucky track times, we put my old carb on my bros 305 truck and it ran like crap, put a 750 Holley on it and ran great.

I kind of figured it was the carb. You may have been able to pick up 1-2 secs with just a carb. Imagine that.

Is it just me, or do those intake port floors look to be ramped up pretty high?

Nope your not seeing things at all.
This is one of the differences between an aftermarket head and a stock head.
The port spreads apart as it approaches the bowl. It needs to maintain the same approximate cross sectional area. So the floor raises up to maintain this cross sectional area. It just so happens that this ramp helps the flow get ready to turn the corner into the bowl. This ramp and floor short side radius
causes the floor flow to follow is contour and into the cylinder.
Other wise it (airflow) would crash across the port towards the roof and upset this high flow area.

Well I've seen lots of aftermarket heads, those the port floor looks ramped up even more than any others I have seen.

Would the height of the ramps have a negative or positive effect on performance?

Those heads look a lot like mine. I got the 200cc port 72cc chamber iron heads. FYI, Mark, according to Pro, the 72cc heads flow better than the 64cc heads.

Why not? Then you would be ready for a blower. Seriously though do you know what your compression will be with the 64's?

Positive... never lower the floor on a intake port.

I'll have around 9.2:1 with the new heads and gasket I got.
I'd really like to have 11:1

Man thats still kind of low for aluminum heads. You keep talking about stroking it so I guess you can get higher compression pistons when you do that.

Mark why dont you just get a set of hyperetectic pistons.... flatops with valve reliefs and boost ur comp up to like 10:1-10:5-1. would be like around 300 for them.
