Will a bad oil pressure switch cause this kind of problem?

I read somewhere that if the oil pressure switch doesn't see oil pressure that it will shut off the supply of fuel to the motor and shut it off before it is damaged. First off, is this true? and secondly if it is bad will it cause the engine to start then immediately shut off? I ask this b/c I'm having that problem with the L98 I put in my car. It starts, but Immediately shuts itself off and I can't figure out why. Please help!

L98 is finally running! Time to break it in a few hundred miles, then go roast some tires!

Nope, that's wrong- at least for an 3rd gen f-body. The oil pressure switch GIVES voltage to the fuel pump when there's oil pressure. It bypasses the fuel pump relay.

Your car will run happily if there's 0 oil pressure, because the relay will keep the pump running.

Try it; disconnect the oil pressure sensor. People here are amazed when they see their engine still running

How's the mass air flow sensor doing?

You mentioned that you put an L98 in your car. What was in it before?
