is my 383 internally balaced or externally balanced

how can i find out if my engine is internally balanced or external any help would be great my engine has a 2 peice rear main

I dont know how to tell by looking at it, but Normally they are externally balanced. They usually use 400 flexplate and balancers. There are some cranks that are intearnally balanced for 383's but those get expensive. How much did the motor cost you or was it in the car when you got it?

look for a bat wing type weight on the balancer( or differant thickness in some places) and/or flex plate

the rotating assembly cost me about 1200 i have a fluid damper im trying to find out so i can get a flywheel for my t56 it has a 2 piece rear main
