Car: 1991 Firebird Engine: 383 stroker Transmission: T-56 | Help me pick some springs Ok, here's what going on. I'm ordering some heads from www.proshaver.com tommorrow and need to decide what valve/spring kit to order.
K1 is listed as "Hydraulic"
K2 is listed as "Flat Tappet"
Now I'm assuming "Hydraulic" mean hydraulic flat tappet and "Flat Tappet" means solid flat tappet cause the K2 springs are a little stiffer. Now here is where my question starts to come in.
The K1 springs list 110# pressure @ 1.800 (seat) but don't list the open pressure, but list a max lift of .550
The K2 springs list 135# pressure @ 1.800 (seat) and 320# pressure @ 1.200 (open) and list a max lift of .600
Ok, for some background info, I'm gonna be running a hydraulic flat tappet, and I've read that the max recommened open pressure on them is right around 300# so not to over wear the lobes, lifters, and pushrods. So, if I ended up getting the K2 kit, the 320# is listed at the max spring lift (.600) but I only plan on running a max of around .510 lift. So theroretically, my vavle train wouldn't even see 320# pressure at all would it? Probably real close to 300# I'm guessing?
I'm probably gonna ask the guy these questions anyway but I just thought I'd get some input going in. Any info or suggestions would be great.
