synthetic oil not to be used with RTV?

I read somewhere online that you should NOT use RTV sealent on anything that will come into contact with a synthetic oil, especialy rear ends. that the oil will eat through the sealent. is this true?

I use Mobil 1 75W90 Gear Lube in all my axles, along with Permatex 6C. No runs, no drips, no errors - even along with the friction additive for clutch-type posi axles.

Testing has shown that the new synthetic lubricant will chemically attack the Room Temperature Vulcanizing (RTV) sealant. Use only the non-synthetic lubricant, P/N 1052271, in axles using RTV sealant (See 9.5 and 10.5 information below).

Sounds like someone hearing something and running with it. The "the new synthetic lubricant" refers specifically to "...the new Fuel Efficient SAE 75W-90 Synthetic Axle Lubricant, GM P/N 12378261...". A quick search on that p/n found this site http://www.jpchevrolet.com/parts/catalog/180-183.pdf , which lists a couple of sealants that are not recommended for use on axles.

I couldn't find anything on a GM site about the gear lube. So, don't know if there is something unique about this gear lube that makes it eat RTV. As expressed above, though, it doesn't apply to synthetic gear lubes in general.
