Ok I'm getting ready to install the cam on my new engine and just want to clear a few things up. I'm pretty sure I don't need a thrust button since it's an original roller cam block right? What about one of those bearing spacers that goes between the block and the cam? I know that there is the plate that bolts over the end of the cam with two bolts going into the block, is this all I need to prevent the cam from walking on me?

Yes Paul, that is all you need for the 87-up OEM roller blocks.

Yes that's all you need if you're putting a factory-style roller cam into a factory roller block. The retainer plate performs the same function that a roller button does in the first-design roller systems. Unless you have done some machine work to create a space for a thrust bearing, or you are using a timing gear that accommodates it, you can't use one of those.
