Fixing broken engine wiring connectors...

Does anyone else ever have problems with borken wiring connectors, or is it just me? Do you all just rig them to work or what? I need an electric choke connector for my cc QJet (wont stay on the metal tab) and a fan switch connector for the wire (no way to plug it into the fan switch). I've tried going to the yard, but they wont let me cut any wires. They are usually cool about letting me do whatever, I dont know why its a big deal anyways cause they just snip them when they pull engines anyhow. Anyways, ya I tried getting them through a dealership, but fat chance they'de have something like that anyways. Anyone have suggestions??

I dont particularly like rigging things unless absolutely necessary so the real deal would be nice if anyone knows where to get these from.

Snip them off when they aren't looking. No sarcasm intended.

Most of those connetors can be purchased new at many parts houses. Standard Products has a fairly complete line of replacements for P.E.D. connectors.

The wire's gotta plug in somewere at each end, right? If possible, just pull out the whole wire and buy the whole thing.

For a complete listing of GM (Packard Electric Division) connectors, old and new, you can download this guide directly from GM:

true..

but because so meny people do that anyway, just walk up to the guy and ask him..

chances are, he will be greatful enough that you ask that he will just let you do it for nothing... hes not expecting to make money off that anyway..

otherwise, he should only charge a dollar or two..

i always ask...... and i usually get it for free- nothing....

a few weeks ago, i got headlight connectors, 8 relays WITH connectors, and some other misc small 3rdgen parts..... for free...

the only thing the guy asked was that next time i needed a bigger part, to keep him in mind... and i will
