If you are turning the steering to full lock it could be something to do with the power steering system. You know how when you turn the wheel to the steering lock it can stutter the engine a little and make a funny noise. Try checking the fluid and belt.
The belt could be stopping the motor. when you turn the wheel all the way the power steering pump binds up and transfers that too the belt. If the rpm's are low enough it could stall the motor.
I had a monte carlo with a 3.8 6 cylinder and sharp turns at low speed would stall it out. I raised the idle a couple hundred rpm and that gave me time to keep it from dying on me. Im not an expert but that is the first thing that popped in my head when I read your post. Hope it helps.
