Sorry to dig this one up but...

I got a "Self-Changing Oil System" in my L98 right now. I need it fixed, and had already wanted to do a simple 383 build. I saw a kit somewhere for 600 or so that came with the crank, pistons, rods, bearings, gaskets and whatnot in order to get the engine back together. Nothing fancy, mind you, just your basic 383 buildup. Sure, I could dump a crate LS1 in it, but I don't have several thousand dollars folating around - if I did, it would've gone to doing a 383 build already, with a supercharger! Anyway, wanted to gt a wish-list of all the stuff I'd need to do a BASIC buildup of an L98, no cutting corners, just a basic get-the-thing-together buildup.

I was going to build a 383 once I got enough money together (im at 200k km right now but still runs strong) I was wondering, I plan to run about 100-150 shot of NOS. Should it be a complete forged bottom end or should only some parts be forged, if so what parts (piston and rods? then crank be cast? will this be enough for that low a boost?)

One last thing, what cam should I use. Ill be running a HSR 383 with 100 nos. Thanks ahead.

Just for information. I just built a 383 from scratch and I can tell you that you will need pistons, not just a crank. That seems to be a huge misconception about 383's.
