cam vs. cam differences

i was just wondering what kind of a #'s difference is there in preformance between a cam with 224 dergrees duration at .050 with .470 single pattern lift, from a 230 dergree duration at .050 with .480 single pattern. by the way its a 408, 10.25 comp 200cc pro action/topline heads

Axle/Gears: 9" ford 5.67
There is a lot more to cam selection than lift and duration. Valve timing plays a big role in performance. Is it your sole means of transportation? Summer street rod? I'm building my little brother a 406, he's changed his mind sooo many times. He's going to be runing about 270 @ 50 solid roller and 200cc Dart iron eagles. I've always had better luck with single pattern cams for the track, duel pattern for the street.

the car is going to be my summer street rod. the reason i was asking that is b/c in chevy high performance there is a 406 with a single pattern 230 dergree duration at .050 and .480 inch lift and with stock vortecs and 9.5:1 comp. made 525 ft lb and 427 hp. I on the other hand have the first cam i listed 224 duration at .050 and .470 lift and was wondering what kind of ft lb and hp numbers i should expect to see. thanks

Axle/Gears: 7.5" Auburn 4.10 Posi-Traction
The smaller cam will make just as much peak torque and be down about 10 to 15 peak horsepower at the most compared to the larger one.
When installed in the car and through the exhaust there may be even less diference.
If you already have that cam, use it. Not enough of a difference.
If you can, try some 1.6:1 rockers on the intake side.

Also remember that you can run a slightly larger cam in a 400 than say a 350 with the extra cubes, 400's like to breathe....
