oil???

my step dad has a 84 trans am and every 2 weeks or so he needs to add 1/4 of a bottol of engine oil to her. what causes a car to burn oil?? oh also there is no smoke. well on start up it does the first couple of revsbut other then that it fine.

Sounds like the typical worn out valve stem seal problem on SB Chevies.
