i plan on getting XR282HR-10 from Comp Cams. my questions are these:
1.) for cam XR282HR-10, what is the best timing chain to use?
2.) also, for XR282HR-10, it says i need intake, stall, gears, headers. whats the best stall range for that cam (2200-5800 rpm is its optimal range). and are 3.73 gears going to be sufficient?
3.) there is a sensor coming outta the bottom of the cover. whats that for?
4.) how do you tell what type of rods you have?
sorry if i sound dumb and ill-informed, i just wanna get this right the first time.
Why do you want that particular cam? Does it match the rest of the engine you're building? That is, is it really the right cam for you?
1. Is this a real roller motor, or a factory one? Timing sets are different. If it's a real roller, I'd recommend a Comp 3100 timing set. If it's a factory roller setup, a Comp 3136.
2. That depends on what size motor it's going in and what the rest of the car is (gears, weight, etc.) I'd say 2800 RPM if this is a 350, 2500 if it's a 400.
3. ¿Cover? ¿Sensor?
4. What rods? What do you want to know about them? I guess a good first step would be to look at them and find any identifying marks like part #s.
