plastic welding?

Has anyone tried one of those plastic welders? The mount on my dash to the frame broke and now my dash rattles around

You mean the syringe type with two tubes, and you mix the two together? I've used it. Works great. Hardens fast and permanent.

Yes, I have. If you have adequate space for the filler material bead, they do an excellent job on ABS, PVC, polycarbonate, and even some styrene if the base material is thick enough. Most dash and interior structural plastic parts ar GRP with an ABS base, and can be repaired easily with plastic welding. Just remember that you don't want to weld so that you have to remove the filler, or the weld will be weakend. Do most of the repair on the reverse, or hidden side if you can.

One thing they might not tell you in the discount/import tool catalogs that sell teh low-cost versions of plastic welders is that you'll need an air compressor to operate it.
