Pro action Vortecs Vs. GM vortecs???

WHich one of these heads are better cause they are the same price I just wonder if there are any differences. Do they have different springs for higher lifts???? I have no clue about either of them I just know i want a set of vortecs.

Well lets put it this way the Pro heads are performance and the GM heads are stock truck heads. Which would be better the Pro heads.

They are a much better casting, already have screw-in studs, and can take bigger springs and more lift without machining. Its not even a question what i would use.

Why ever run any stock parts when new aftermarket performance parts are the same price!!!!?

I'll never believe the Pro Toplines flow as well as Vortec heads until I see actual flow charts on the same flow bench, and HP results from both heads on the same engine on the same dyno.

Not saying the Vortecs are the head of all heads, but they're a damn good design. To simply mimic Vortecs and put in "performance" accesories does not make them better.

Just like I'll never believe their intakes flow as well, or make as much power as the Edelbrock intakes they mimic.

Basically, is what he is trying to say is you should try to aquire a flow sheet for the Pro Action heads. Once you do that, compare stock flow with the Pro Action flow and work from there.

It would be nice if someone had such flow sheets. If they flow as well as factory heads, they're a better deal than trying to upgrade factory heads with springs, studs, etc.

?

For the 191 heads setup using www.virtualengine2000.com with my car weight with me (3785lbs) and my best dragstrip time 14.01@99mph it give me about 344 flywheel HP

For the vortec setup that is verry similar to this one found at:http://www.superchevy-web.com/tech/0...m15/index.html
T15--DM Part 6: GM Vortec iron heads SDPC PN SD8060A (64cc chambers, 170cc intake runner volume, 1.94/1.50 valves) with Comp Cams 1.6:1 Magnum roller tip rockers PN 1418-16, Edelbrock Performer RPM Air Gap Vortec intake manifold PN 7516 COMP Cams XE262H cam (262/270 advance duration, 218/224 duration at .050, .462/.469 valve lift, 110 lobe separation) straight up. That give 416HP 440TQ. Using www.virtualengine2000.com 416 hp should push my car to a :hail: 12.78@105mph +\- without nitrous

In that flow chart it ways "Vortec 885" ...what the heck are 885's? The only vortecs I've ever seen are 062, 906, and those other castings they put on 305's (I forget the casting #)

That's the old part # suffix.

They've changed part numbers since then.
