Where can I get a heated O2 sensor?

Where can I get a heated O2 sensor?

Anyone know where I can get a heated O2 sensor cheap for a 1988 GTA 5.7L? I think this is the problem because I have rough idle on cold starts after I installed the ZZ-9 Cam. After it warms up it runs fine. It smells very rich when it idles rough. Nothing was changed before and after the Cam install other than a Big Mouth Manifold and a TPIS level 4 PROM. Tried switching to a stock PROM and same thing. Could the O2 sensor not be getting hot enough for correct readings? The cold start up is fine on warm days (50*F and higher). The exhaust lift on the cam is now at .520.

No, a heated O2 sensor won;t help you. Your chip probably just isn;t right in the open loop settings.

I was thinking that with the larger lift on the exhaust side, that the rich mixture was cooling the O2 sensor too much.

Could be the O2 sensor! ANYTHING is possible with thirdgen camaros and firebirds!! You can probably pick up a heated O2 sensor at a local parts store! If not, you can pick up one through any of the mail order catalogs....jegs, summit, nextgen!!

If the problem is on a cold start, it is definately NOT the O2 sensor. The O2 sensor doesn't come into play until you are in closed loop operation. If you were experiencing problems with it not staying in closed loop, that would be a reason to go with a heated O2 sensor.


Maybe your fuel pressure is too high? The ecm doesn't make adjustments in open loop if it is too rich, because it doesn't even look at the O2 sensor (other than for activity to tell when to go into closed loop) until it is in closed loop. It could make the necessary adjustments after going into closed loop.

Good point about the fuel pressure being too high. Didn't even come to mind. He even said in his original post the car smells rich..hmm

I have told this filipino brown man spear chucker to lower his fuel pressure many times. I'll have to beat him with bamboo soon.

His car runs good once it's at operating temp. Also runs good under WOT.

U crack me up Formula, I'll try setting a lower fuel pressure to see if that helps, but I have didn't have this problem before I installed the cam. The fuel pressure remained the same.

BTW I am currently running my fuel pressure at 52 psi vacuum hose off.

Found out today that it was the O2 sensor. Wired up the Bosch Heated O2 Sensor for a ZR1 Corvette part number 13077 and installed it into the bung. This solved all of my problems of a rough idle and the computer getting into closed loop sooner. With the non-heated O2 sensor the car would not get into closed loop for about 5-10 mins. depending on outside temperatures. The car runs beautifully now. Thanks again CARTEK! http://www.Cartek.net
