Red Green makes his own, improved version of the lower air deflector. Mysteriously enough, there is no duct tape involved!
If you want the OEM part numbers, they are as follows:
10020322 - Deflector, Panel Center Air. Fills the lower radiator support and seals to the lower air deflector, $29.80 list.
10017673 - Deflector, Radiator Lower Air. Mounts to the lower fascia and deflects air upward to the radiator. This is the one most of us break off, $23.05 list, in any color you want as long as it's black.
Both are still listed as active parts - e.g. NOT obsolete.
hey vader thanks always can count on the moderator for a excellent response! thanks again!

burnout, i gave 25 for it but sometimes people tend to run up prices on ebay especially if they bid days ahead of the closing. i really like that home made version in the pic that vader posted. is there any how tos as to how that was built.
Since the 86's are readily available I can't imagine discontinuing the 89's. I would go to a dealer though because on the 86 alone their are 3 separate part #'s available for the strip that Vader shows. Well, let me put it another way. The air dam pieces are called "deflectors". Their are 3 available deflectors.
Nose Cone Piece
Strip across front (like vader shows)
Piece that mounts to radiator.
Then, on the strip that goes across the front their are 3 different part numbers available.
Point being, there is a lot of margin for error of getting the wrong part.

Affected: 1985-88 FIREBIRD TRANS AM/GTA
"This bulletin supersedes Bulletin 87-6(Gasoline)-49. Date 7/1/87. This bulletin has been revised due to a new air deflector part number and to add the 1988 model year."
Effective start of production, 1989 the lower air deflector will consist of three pieces rather than one in regular production. For service on the subject vehicles the service deflector will likewise consist of three pieces rather than one.
For service, install the revised deflector per instructions provided in the service kit. The part number for the service kit is 12395557.
Parts are currently available from GMSPO.
This part set costs $37.00 and is currently available at any Pontiac Dealer.
I installed the new revised airdam which was mentioned above in my last 2 cents was finally installed this morning. It fit beautiflly and completely fixed my over heating problem. My engine's temp is rock solid at 198 degrees at all speeds. I am one happy camper!
I am holding a NEW GM Radiator air deflector in my hands right now. Black as coal. I just got it from Third Gen Resource for $25 plus shipping. It's GM part number 14083929 is stamped right on it. This is for my '89 IROC. It's held on with 6 bolts under the radiator and feeds fresh air to the radiator. It's the darn plastic piece we scrape on speedbumps and high curbs and such!!
Hope this is the part your talking about!
