Need help fast....ECU compatibility

I have a 1990 5.7L camaro. Will the ecu from any (so 87-92) 350 camaro/firebird work in my car?

As long as it is an ECM that is a "730" (last 3 digits of the part number) from a TPI based car, you should be fine.

Where you'll run into problems is with the memcal (chip/prom) inside the ECM. The 1990-92 Camaro (and Firebirds) were all speed density systems, earlier years were MAF based. You can not use a MAF memcal (even if you burn your own proms) in a Speed Density car (I have personal verification! Doesn't work)

So you'll have to have a memcal/prom from a 1990-92 350 for the thing to run. You'll also have to have a 1990-92 memcal even if you are burning your own proms for it due to the knock sensor circuitry (I screwed up once and proved this to be true). A 1990 350 memcal is what you need if you are not burning your own proms.

Does this answer your questions?

Just to note, the 86-89 ECM's are a different setup completely. The p/n for those ends in 165 and is not compatable with the 730 ECM. The 85 TPI ecm is different from both of those, and uses a slower ALDL buad rate as well.
