thats what our 73 camaro we built was idling at all the time just to keep it running ....LOL....sure it sounds mean but its far from what is considered streetable when you get over 500 hp n/a .....in illinois your not allowed to have 500hp at the wheels or its considered to be illeagal on the street ......call the illinois state police and ask ..LOL..they get a little testy when they find out what your wanting to do.....LMAO

650hp na is possible with a 350, your gonna have to enlarge some oil passages and expect to spin at least 7,000 rpm. It sounds like you have a good bottom end, the oiling system is gonna have to be top notch like the dry sump mentioned. Sure anyone can give you generalizations like 220+ runner heads, .600+ solid roller, shaft mounted rockers, 18* heads, etc. The best advice I can give you is to buy some books, call some engine builders, go to the library and read back issues of engine buildups. Then make some decisions, ask more questions, at that stage of the build you'll only be finding answers from the companys which you are running.

Ill be calling AFR when im ready and asking them what they suggest. Next week i think ill be ready to buy thats also when ill have a garage for my car im excited .
I think you'll be real happy with afr heads, even if you don't meet your goals it wont be because of the heads. I'm not sure what heads I plan to run yet, I just picked up my 2bolt 400 block tho!
I wonder if the "engine 305" in your sig has something to do with people not wanting to give a straight answer to this. In addition to your comment's being a little harsh, that is.
If you want purely "race", that's easy, just pick all the parts from the bottom of every chart, and your set to kill!
When talking heads, sure those AFR's are good, but I don't know if they are the best when talking full "race". they are very good High power street heads though.
One thing that indicates big flow is CNC ported heads, and one other magic thing.... Price! Yep, the expensive ones usually accounts for alot of work done to them. I like Brodix and AFR myself though.
But when you dig into this, there are all sorts of numbers to consider, flow charts, at different lifts and rpm's and so on. An easy way to make this HP goal the most streetable would be to maximize displacement. If you can afford it, get a built 427 or 454 motown, sell what you got, and pay for the remaining. That'll give you a plenty good foundation to meet your goal.
Or, you could of course just buy the whole 454 motown engine. A guy who hangs out at my local cruise-in has one, and he drives it everywhere, all the time. It seems plenty streetable too, idle's nicely and all that, but you donotice a very big difference from most other v8's in the sound. It's just mean. sorry for the long post.

Yup! Horse power is measured in cubic dollars! lol!

well, there's 30 minutes of my life i'll never get back
in all seriousness though,if $are no problem maybe you should think about a set of 4 valve per cyl heads, looking for the link.
if i find it i'll post it

here ya go, http://www.araoengineering.com/
remember though, more moving parts usually means a greater chance of breakage, works with a stock cam design too!

man, if ever there was a truer statement...
i helped my dad out with carpentry jobs as i was growing up. i did what i was told, never questioned it because he was the expert and i was the helper. not until many years later, when i was involved in a home project, did i know the invaluable knowledge he had passed on to me. and my willingness to follow what he told me to the letter made that, and many more home projects, very successful.
sometimes it's about what you know. other times it's about what you know, but you really didn't know you knew it until the right time. helping out building cars is a beautiful thing, but that is a far cry from being a master motor builder.
somewhere in this post, you replied "what, do you think i am 16 years old or something?" well, while you might be 21-22, those 5 or 6 years removed from 16 doesn't mean you have gained the maturity necessary to talk with people with respect and dignity. while you think you are so much more mature than a 16 year old, the people who are double and triple your age are chuckling to themselves because they thought that when they were that age, too - and know what a fallacy it is. the first time you called someone an idiot, you may as well have been pissing in the wind - because most people who know anything about building a motor probably stopped reading your post at that point.
you need to learn how to talk with people in order to get what you want. posting on an internet site might not get you what you want, but i can guarantee that not treating people with respect will keep you in the dark. how do you know the friend of the first person you called idiot didn't have the answers you needed, but because you called his friend an idiot, he didn't respond...?
