Easiest way to install headers?

I got the Edelbrock TES for my 87 305. I might take the heads off for cleaning and such, Is it easier to install the headers on the heads and then install them on the engine? How hard is it to install the headers otherwise? Thanks/L

Send a message via ICQ to ede
i don't think trying to fish the headers inplace with them attachetd to the heads would be the most effective way to go about it

Whatever the easiest way is, it is DEFINITELY NOT to put them on the heads and then put the heads and headers on together.

The easiest way is usually to simply put them on. The left one will drop in from above, and the right one will go in from underneath.

Wait for an engine rebuild, then pull the engine, lay the headers in the open bay and reinstall the engine.
But seriously, the biggest probel I've seen/had is that the car is not jacked up high enough.

The TES is easier to put on after the motor is already in. Not at all like long tubes. They just drop right on, as described. Got to be the easiest headers I've ever worked with. I've tried it by putting them on the motor first, and that wasn't any good (I destroyed my A/C evaporator housing doing that, in fact); laying them in the engine bay (which worked OK, but I had to fight these things all laying around in there in the way of everything); and just putting them on afterwards. The most direct way is also the easiest, in this particular case.
