That's about all the oiling system a small block chevy will need, given no added oil clearances or added flow volume.
bringing this thread back. i just ordered all this stuff to put in my 350 motor that i have on the stand. will the Jegs pickup retainer (part # 555-23620) work with the M55? just wanna be sure before i order. thanks.
it should, pretty universal fit. i hammer a flat on a 1/4 round, drill a hole in it, weld the round end to the pick up and bolt the flat end to the pump.
The M55 is no longer recommended for a high performance engine. Since this thread originated Melling has reduced the casting thickness of the M55 oil pump. In a hi-po engine the casting will break off in the neck area.
