re-adjusting valves

Hi all

I need to re-adjusting valves on my motor. Rebuild motor, I adjusted the valves but too loosely and when motor get warm, operating temperature they are clicking

So I turning when pushrods stop walking up and down and...
hmm many sources announce different ways to do 1/2turn 1/4turn or one full turn? Which is good and when? The engine is 350TPI

thanks!

The lash (preload actually) needs to be adjusted when the lifters are on the cam's base circle, not a lobe ramp.

There's a procedure here and in the manual if you dig around, basically bring cylinder 1 to top dead center firing and you can adjust some of the valves, then bring cyl 6 to TDC and you can adjust the rest.

I always used 3/4 turn past zero lash when I had my L98 engine and it was a happy camper.

I used a 90degrees method but when I assembling heads I only remove pushrod walking and do not turn any degree more :/ and when to motor warm I see a negative effect of that

today I'll set a zero lash and start with 1/2 turn more

I hope will be good if no i'll try 3/4

regards

On a particular cylinder, as the EXHAUST is OPENING, adjust the INTAKE. As the INTAKE is CLOSING, adjust the EXHAUST. This makes sure that the valve you're adjusting is on the base circle. Remember that as metals get temperature in them they expand. If you're doing this on a cold motor you should go zero lash plus 90*. On a warm motor I would go that 90*, plus another 1/8 of a turn.
