Cam change

My 87 firebird has the LG4 carbd engine with the little roller cam (.351 .386 lift) I'm contemplating going to the newer 88 up fuel inj. cam with .414 .431lift and 207 214 duration. I work at a NAPA and so have a discount on stock type parts so this cam would be much more affordable than a crane or comp. Is this cam a direct drop in? Work fine with automatic etc? What kind of idle will it have? Everything else is currently stock.

it will be a worthwhile swap if you can reuse your hydroller lifters.. After you get it going work on your exhaust flow.

Should have said stock -cat. Havent had the convertor on there for at least the last 100,000.

We've driven this car into the ground and now I'm considering fixing it up.
