Can someone identify this block?

Last year I started a 350 buildup that is going real slow (read: marriage and baby). I got my block, crank, pistons & rods from P.A.W. When I ordered it I said "4-bolt 350 pre-86 block". That appears to be what I have except for a few differences. I DO have a 2-piece rear main seal, but I have a pass. side dipstick and what I am assuming is an oil return hole straight down the side of the block on the driver's side. When I ordered a pre-86 oil pan from Moroso it does not account for the driver's side oil return hole. I can't seem to find an oil pan that does except for a 86+ oil pan from GM for a 1 piece rear seal. I need an oil pan and I also don't want to go through this same deal when I buy heads. The part number on the block is 10066036. This block was straight from GM. That part is not listed in the online spoperformanceparts.com catalog. 10066034 is. 10066034 is a pre-86 4-bolt 350. Can someone here fill me in on what block I have? Can anyone tell me what oil pan to use to put this thing in my 3rd gen Camaro? I appreciate the info.

I might be misunderstanding something but my 400 block with driver side DS works just fine with this pan

Looks like the 20181 is the pass-side

My Moroso oil pan I have matches up with the dipstick just fine. It's the oil passage down the driver's side of the block the oil pan does not take into account. I have a feeling that GM updated their 80-85 350 casting to be like a 86+ but with a 2 piece rear seal. Anybody?

FWIW the Moroso oil pan 20181 is the oil pan that I have. With this oil pan the oil return line on the driver's side will flow all over the outside of the oil pan. That is why I started questioning what block I have. The passenger dipstick lines up perfectly with this oil pan.

If the "passage" you are talking about is about 3/8" diameter and goes from the head deck to the oil pan rail, it's not a return line. It's where the dipstick goes.

GM does not incorporate "features from the future" in their castings.

There were a certain number of 305s (I have one in my 78 El Camino for example) that had a pass side dipstick block, but a pan with a dipstick place in the side of the pan like a big block on the driver's side which is where the dipstick was installed. I've never seen a 350 that was made that way, but that certainly doesn't mean that it doesn't exist. Is your block like that?

the only blocks i know of that have two dipsticks are the sportsman bowtie blocks.i don't have the ability to run your casting number but if you call scoggin dickey they should be able to help you out.they stock a large quantity of these blocks and might be able to assist you in your oil pan selection.just to let you know it might be hard to find one for a third gen because of the y-pipe configuration.however a chevelle oil pan may be subsistuted for it,you'd have to ask them on the specifics..........

I just came from the local Chevy dealer which has a Pro shop. The guy told me that 10066036 is the casting number and 10066034 is the part number for that casting. OK I'll buy that but it doesn't explain the hole. He said that the performance blocks have a pass. side dipstick (old short shoot that comes out low on the block) and a driver's side dipstick (runs the whole side of the block) so I could use whichever one I want. Sounds likely. can anyone confirm?

thanks for the responses.
