ok i have a stock 305tbi and i wanted to upgrade the ignition. but not go out and buy some crazy stuff. so i was thinking why not check out advanced autoparts. please tell me what you think.
and then getting a aftermarket coil would be nice. and some wires. but other than that let me knwo what you think. also i would like to know if those curve kits work? and would they work with the accell module above. and what to buy. yes i know its a 305tbi but i was just wondering.
thanks
ryan

on a fairly stock car with a already good HEI system your prolly not going to see a lot out of it. now if you where driving an old car with points you might like it though even then I'm not sure how much of a difference it really makes.
but chances are you money would be better spent on other things for now
Advance curve kits do work with some tweaking. Earlier distrbutors limited the maximum advace by the shape of the cam on the dizzy shaft so the weights and springs were only part of it. You had to grind a new profile on the advance cam to get decent advance without tons of initial/base timing.
That said though, does the dizzy you have even have weights and springs? I'm not familiar too familiar with the TBI engine setup so forgive me if the info does not apply.
No he's got now weights or springs, it's all controlled by the ECM and ignition module.
On a stock motor you wont see too much power gains. If it's giving you problems or all the parts are original it's time for an overhaul though. A new coil, ignition module, cap, rotor, plugs and wires. You can get an aftermarket module from MSD or Accel but theyre all the same. Cap and rotor I'd go MSD or similar. They tend to resist flex better, supress spark scatter and the terminals are more conductive that AutoZone parts. Stock replacement on the plugs and I like either Taylor or Moroso cut to fit wires. As for the coil MSD's are popular but Performance Distributors makes the Screamin' Demon thats got a little hotter spark.
i went with the accell ignition module. and the msd coil. so they come in tomorrow and ill put them it probably wont make a difference but whatever im just looking for something to do.
