Just for you, I'm going to shoot a "ride along" video of these antiquated, hacked up, old hunks of iron in action...I'll have to hurry since it won't stay together for a year...
Till then:

Unfortunately, that wouldn't load... I was looking forward to it.
Your car???

I don't need to be convinced of the potential for fun using a set of old factory iron heads tho.
I have a set of ported and otherwise reworked 041s that I've been using since the 70s.
I've never had those heads flowed, I just know that when I put them on a 350 block, it runs stronger
Too bad they're on my truck now... My car is down.

I've seen some of the flow tests that are posted on various sites but in most cases the test heads are all from different shops, tested on different machines.
I think it would be interesting to see some flow #s of different factory heads that are all ported and tested at the same shop.

Soon I hope to have a different set of HP heads to replace the old 041s as my new favorites.
I picked up a set of LT1 heads that I'm doing a number on, to retrofit to the SBC1 block.

Your car???
EDIT: I fixed this:
It is (no longer) a Quicktime movie. You have to have Quicktime to play it. (not)
You can get it for free here:
Quicktime Movie Player
My camera shoots this format and I haven't got a converter to put it in .MPG yet. (I have now)
My car is kind of a nostalgia thing with the engine. All the way down to the 108` lobe separation on the cam, I just like to hear the music of a good old high-compression engine from the early 70s. Install the player and take a listen...

Better clip of it in action to come, before I muzzle the exhaust.

I've got Mac OS-9... it'll load MPG but not that newer quicktime.
Oh well...
I'll just put on some Aerosmith or Nugent and project myself back to my high school days, and try to remember what it was like...
Aaahhhh... the sweet smell of Sunoco 260, thrush mufflers, and a Clay Smith Cams decal on the back window!

Maybe I'll go to the computer lab tomorrow and try it.
Autocenter sells 109*lsa hyd roller for only abt $80.

Remember this thread is about camel-hump cylinder heads.
Read my first post in this thread about combustion chamber shape.
I like underrated hardware. Did I mention that it has a Quadrajet on it? nearly stock delco HEI distributor?
Pistons: TRW LF2304 forged 11:1 with moly rings.
Cam: 280 HL. Hydraulic flat tappet, duration 280` at 0 lift. 224` duration at .050 lift. valve lift with 1.5 rockers: .465 intake & exhaust. lobe center: 108`
It is streetable if you don't pump the brakes more than twice.
Compression is 11.1 to 1, runs on 93 octane with lead substitute and some "special" things, like the heads, under-idle solenoid etc.
I've had it on the road with just the turndowns on it and it screams at 6700. As I said in a previous post, "ride along" video to come...

As I promised: Crappy in car video.
Still working on the "too-early" 2-3 WOT upshift....
And the "too-late" 1-2 WOT upshift. You can hear it bounce off of the Rev Limiter set at 6700 in this clip.
