diode ripple?

hey guys,

i've been having some hard starting since i did 4/8 spark plugs on my GTA (not by choice of course. those 4 plugs are a PITA to get to). anyways, i work at R&S strauss and i used this hand held battery and charging system tester we have. so i was tooling around with it on my car to to make sure my charging system was sound. it said my battery was good, starter good, but it said it didn't detect any diode ripple?? what's that? does it mean my alternator is bad?

any light to shed on this is highly appreciated.

Excessive diode ripple means you have a failed rectifier diode. Not having any is a good thing.
