i had a crane blue racer in my old 305 with 214*/224* @ .050 .442/.465 lift on a 112lsa. this cam pushed my car to a 13.03@103mph. now, this cam is not the only thing responsible for that. the car had quite the converter and gears. i think that this cam will give you exactly what you are looking for. a bit of a bump at idle with shift points at 5500rpms. summit has the exact same grind under the Summit Brand. you can get cam and lifters for $69.95. p/n SUM-K1103. the item description only has it making power from 2000-4500 for some reason, but i know that cam made power to 5500rpms.

I think you'd be happier with an Xtreme Energy series cam, something like the XE262 or XE268. I don't have any direct experience with the Voodoo cams, some people say they've tried them and like them, but I have this mental block against them since they chose that name for them. Regardless, that's a pretty mild one you listed.

Can we assume you're getting new valve springs to match the cam while you're at this?

I think the second one listed, would work well for you. I have the 60103 "best 268 cam ever", and it works quite well in my 350.

Ironically I have an air freshener that looks like an alien, little puffy guy, hanging from the rearview, you poke him to emit the smell. Apparently you have to poke him with a sharp object to get him to start to smell. hmmm.....

You gotta follow their recommended break-in procedures. Or, coat the lobes and lifter faces with ARP thread lube when assembling.

(And, avoid getting one of their quality issues era cams.)

blah blah blah...i followed the instructions to a frickin' t and had the assembly lube on them. they DO have quality issues with the xtreme energy cams.

i've had very good luck with comps roller rockers and valve springs, and very good luck with crane's cams.

I didn't say "assembly lube". . .

Anyway, I know it's hard to regain trust when it's been broken. It takes a long time to earn a good reputation, and only minutes or seconds to ruin it.

Personally, I have only had one Comp cam, my current XS282. From what I've seen on the Board, however, your experience seems to be extreme.

well i know they say you get what you pay for but i dont want to spend too much on this motor since im starting my 383 in weeks but i want to get this 305 back together to have something to still play around with until the big motor is done and that will get a lil better milage and performance that the cam i have now. when the original machince work was done springs were put in to handle about 480 lift so i should be ok on springs. i do plan on new gears soon and mabey a stall from a 4.3 s10 or i may wait cause i am ultimatley doing a 5/6spd swap. like i sad though i just want a lil better power but lower and some bump to make it nice when i go cruising. what about that summit cam that mw66nova mentioned? ive thought about summit cams but they list weird power ranges and what not.

trust me, for $70, it's a steal. the cam works really well.

scroll down to the bottom of this page, there is a video of my car with the old combo. you can see if you like the way it sounds. this car had hedman longtubes, dual 2.5" pipes with a flowmaster knockoff muffler and an h-pipe.

im thinking i will go with the summit cam but was wondering if it would be worth while to upgrade to 1.5-1.6 ratio roller tip rockers like the stamped ones summit offer?
