I have been wonderin gexactly what is in my car since ive had it, the guy said it was an original rebuild, but i wanna know for sure. there were 2 CM in big letters, then 14010201 in smaller print. Anybody know what what the numbers designate?? Thanks

its a 305 with a 2 bolt main.... say hello to 145 hp baby!!!! From 80-85
well its not certain its an LG4 depends on what you have on the top that helps me decide that :P

its possible that is the original block...


If you check the stamping on the passenger side deck surface right behind the alternator it will have some stampings there. somewhere in that jumble should be part of your VIN number if its the original block.

I cant remember if the head has to come off or not to see it, i dont think it does...

The suffix and VIN code are stamped on a pad in front of the passenger head. The numbers are usually full of paint, dirt, grease, etc and are hard to read. These numbers can tell you exactly what the engine is and what vehicle it came out of.

The casting number is only good to give you a basic idea what the block is. Your casting says you have a 305 so you can rule out having a 350. If the casting said you had a 4" bore block such as the popular 010 casting, chances are it's a 350 but could also be a 302 or 327 since they all used the same casting 4" bore block.

Sounds like you've got an original 305 under the hood.

well, when i got the car, the guy said he had the original motor rebuilt, but i wasnt to sure. But now that i know its the original l69 motor, it prolly has the original heads and everything, as those where reworked to. My cars awful peppy to be 145 hp, lol. I should be at least throwin down 200.

145 is for the lg4 you should be 190 but since its old subtract a bit...
