overheating during cam break in

I read some other posts about overheating and had some other questions.

Gm goodwrench bottom end, comp xe274, holley600, 190cc al. heads, msd with new gm hei dist.

my headers started glowing red on 3&5 after about 3 mins. and the temp got to 225. should i try to enrich the carb a little? I realize it will run hot sitting still but it seemed to get hot very fast. I did turn the fan on as soon as it started but tomorrow i am getting the leaf blower out.

On timing, refresh my memory which way is adv & ret? ret. should help right?

thanks

spinning the dizzy counterclockwise will advance the timing and likewise, clockwise will retard the timing.

Send a message via Yahoo to Coach Hawk
Timing that is to retarded can cause it to run hot, just as timing that is to advanced.
