tranny swap auto to 5 speed

ok heres what im wondering i found a 5 speed tranny with clutch pedal assmbley i know i can just block off the lines to the rad. is there anything else im gonna have to do?like driveshaft,crossmember also will it affect my computer for my tbi i have to keep the 305 in the car till i get the motor built any advice would be great....Steve

Re: tranny swap auto to 5 speed

Shouldn't affect the computer running the manual trans instead of the auto. Crossmember and driveshaft will work the same on the manual trans too. Make sure you have the torque arm bracket with the 5 speed. If not, you need to get one. They're different from the automatic torque arm bracket, and don't interchange. Also make sure the "lips" on the end of your torque arm are facing the right way for the manual torque arm bracket/bushing assembly. Don't forget to install a pilot bushing, or bearing in the back of the crankshaft for the manual trans. Get the bearing if possible, it works better than the solid bushing.
