Re: Tune up on a 1992 Z28

-grease the chassis
-air filter
-clean and gap the plugs
-visual check of wires for burning, chafing, etc
-set timing
-run a fuel injector cleaner through
-visually check belts for cracks, wear, check tightness
-check tire pressure, check for cracks, unusual wear, bulges
-look for any fluid leaks
-check tightness/play in driveshaft (u-joints)
-check or change transmission oil, differential oil, brake fluid, power steering fluid
-check coolant level/condition
do a nice engine shampoo, wash and wax the car
i'm probably forgetting a few things...

Re: Tune up on a 1992 Z28

- Lube, oil, filter
- Air Filter (if needed)
- Spark Plugs (cap, rotor, wires if needed)
- Clean throttle body and IAC motor
- Change PCV valve and breather filter (if necessary)
- Inspect belt or belts for wear, drying, or cracking
- Check belt tensioner operation
- Check coolant condition/voltage/acidity/hoses
- Charge battery
- Check tire wear, tire pressure
- Check trans, rear end, engine for leaks
- Check brake rotors/drums and pads/shoes for wear level
- Check swaybar bushings and end links

Looks like a long list, but most of it is just looking at parts of the car.

Re: Tune up on a 1992 Z28

I suggest since you are not around to have the wife get a shop to do the tune up. Make sure they set everything back to factory specs via the computer. You might even let the dealer do it.

As far as the shocks for the hood and hatch, those can be bought new from any parts story...about $40.00 for all four and you can pop those on as soon as you get back in about 5 minutes.

God speed home safely.
