bouncing off the rev limiter at 5000???????

Ok I put a 95 lt1 in a 87 firebird and last year the car ran great. Since then i rebuilt the tranny and strocked the lt1 to a 383 with a direct port nitrous. So I go to the track this weekend to run the car and dial in the nitrous when on my first pass I notice that I bounce off the rev limiter at 5000 rpm.

I scanned the car and the only code that I came up with was code 97 (4K pulses per mile fault) which I had before I went racing. Eairlier in the week I replaced the vss try to get rid of the code but it was still their.

I also do not have the speedo hooked up to see if that is working properly. I bought the cable x to convert the 4l60e electronic signal to a mechanical one, its just not hooked up yet. S that does not help.

I reciently had the computer redone to set it up for the added cubic inch and nitrous, could the problem be in the computer and tied to code 97? Could the problem be that the injectors are to small? Could it be the tranny?

Thanks for you help

Any ideas why my rev limit is so low, is it in limp mode. My ignition cut off is at 6700.
