how much power and torque round about would a mid to late 70s smallblock 350 make??? i found one in a junkyard to get me by till i get my other engine built and was merely just curious
A typical one such as might be found in trucks, full-size cars, Vettes, Malibus, Z28s, etc. (all the same...) made about 275 ft-lbs of torque, and about 165 HP with a 2-bbl carb or 180 HP with a 4bbl carb (again, same thing; just a different carb and intake stuck on top)
Pretty laughable, really.

The simplest explanation that fits all the facts is probably the right one.
More torque, yes; more HP than some (LG4), less than others (L69)
It is THE DUNG.
OTOH, it's a 350; do away with the deep dish pistons and the smogger heads, so that the compression is higher than 8¼:1, and give it some flow, and put a better cam in it than the 929 POS the factory put in all of those, and yeah, you'll have something decent.
Put it in EXACTLY as you found it, you'll be pretty much underwhelmed.
I don't know what's so "cool" about one of those, except that maybe the block is a rebuildable core. That's about all that's worth anything. The rest is TRASH.

you would bump your compression up quite a bit however your intake and exhaust flow will most likely decrease considerably unless you put 1.94 valves in those heads and hog them out
i have run 4416 305 heads on a bored out 350 before and it runs damn strong but no top end past around 4k
you will hear alot of different things from ppl regarding this
and the 70s 350 engine s werent exatly performers by any means except in a few rare instances, they were simply smogger emissions engines since at least 72 , hell even the 70s truck 400 engines were only 175 horse(LF4)
well im not gonna throw my 305 heads on the engine im putting alot of stuff into i was just thinkin about putting the heads on the junkyard 350... think itll give me any gain?
