As the title says I have the intake on my engine, and the EGR valve is just sitting there. But the new carb I just picked up hits the EGR valve and it just won't fit. At first I was thinking of just taking the EGR valve off and plugging the hole...
Will this cause any problems. The engine is all carb, with HEI. No computer, the engine is from a 1978 truck (350 5.7L). So, can I just take the valve off and seal the hole, or am I stuck?
I have another intake, an RPM performer but I just don't have the time to swap right now. Any ideas?

Get an EGR block-off plate. Or, make one up..... you should be able to find one locally, or, from a pick-and-pull. Might be faster just to swap manifolds. The aftermarket manifold will certainly give you better performance.

Time is the huge factor though, I work and I don't have a proper shop. So I only get about an hour a day to work on the engine. If I pull the EGR valve off, and just block the open hole it should be alright?

There are 2 open holes. Both must be blocked.
You'll notice that one is easy (a circle); the other is a bit more of a challenge (a rectangle).
Get, or make, a blockoff plate.
"No time" won't change the reality you're facing. Like I tell my (adult) children, spend your limited time finding ways to get it done, not spend your limited time dreaming up excuses for why you can't get it done. In the end, it's either done (with no excuses) or not (WITH plenty of perfectly good excuses). Which one fits your needs better?
