Re: fog lights?
fog light wire kits are avalable for auto parts stores, that would be the best way to go about doing it

Re: fog lights?
ok well im going to do my best here to help you
ok run the hot from you battery to a 25a fuse (not shown) then to the (+) side of the realy, run the ground to the relay to the chassis ground on your car, take a source from inside your car (ie radio fuse) run a wire to a toggle switch, then from the switch to the switch terminal of the realy, on the out put or accesory terminal of the relay run a wire to the (+) on your fog lights, and ground the ground wire
even if you leave you switch on, and you cut your car off the fog lights will turn off since its on the power to the radio, you really need to use a relay its the only proper way to do it
thats how they are wired on my RS, except i got a tiny micro switch and not a toggle switch
the drawing is crude but works, the relays terminal locations are marked on it or with info from the package
if you need any help or have other ?'s, post back

Re: fog lights?
sweet deal, so the fog lights just share a common ground? and where should i place the fuse? just anywhere between the battery and the relay?
And i should use one of these correct?
Also any specific relay? or should i just go to checker and ask for the iroc fog light relay?
And lastly where and how do i place the relay?? same as the fuse just wherever i please?

Re: fog lights?
I put fog lights on my 91 RS and did it with a fog light wiring kit from auto zone, My for lights came off a 89 IROC(thats the only thing thats from the IROC) it didn't have the factory wiring or the switch(they were already gone). If you go to Auto Zone to get the wiring kit w/switch it already has the in line fuse on the wire that goes to the battery. Thats if you want to go that route.

Re: fog lights?
yea a fuse like that will work, i grounded my lights to the metal support they are bolted on and the realy to the fire wall
ask for just a generic relay, tell them its for fog lights, and you need to know what terminal does/ what it goes to (ie BATT +, Ground, Switch, Accesory {fog lights})
you can mount the realy near the battery, near the lights, or where ever you want it
use eletrical tape or heat shrink over connections to avoid water getting into them and corrodeing them (heat shrink is easier and neater looking) use a lighter to shrink it but be carefull not to burn the wires also
thats how a to decode the pics on the relay to wire it up

Re: fog lights?
as dumb as this may sound, which relay did you use and where can i get one,? i dont wanna play the guessing game, i know that i need to have on that obviously bolts onto something but other than that im at a loss. As far as the heat shrink goes i have that in mass amounts, my vocational school has too much on hand any way, plus i can use the industrial driers to shrink it lol

Re: fog lights?
its just a universal relay, thay area all the same but normaly universal ones have the slide on terminals, and a mounting hole, i think mine was from radio shack or napa, it was in my garage full of nick nacks, just an univeral 12V relay, at any huto parts store, make sure it can handle aprox 120 watts or 30- 25 amps or so to be safe

Re: fog lights?
For camaropunk, look at my relay wire diagram if you have trouble with how to wire a relay up
this diagram should help you

Re: fog lights?
what is the purpose for running it through my wiper fuse? I was planning on putting an inline fuse between my relay and my battery, by just measuring the amp draw of the lights and rounding it up to the closest value fuse. will this serve the same function?

Re: fog lights?
only point in that is to have it to where it will cut off the power when the car is off, i go on the hot side of the fuse (the side that has power going to it, before the power goes through the fuse) and then put an inline fuse somewhere...... i also think there is a switch power source on the fuse block you can hook to also

Re: fog lights?
does your car have the factory fog light switch? I hooked aftermarkets up to my iroc and used all the factory wires and the switch. All you need to do is find the ground constant power and switched power to the car
