Hey guys,
I have been saving up to build my engine for a while now. I just completed the shortblock (for the most part) and now I am about to buy a set of heads.
I was looking on craigslist and found a set of UNUSED Edelbrock Vic Jr heads.
Specs of shortblock:
'85 350 Block decked and bored .060" over.
Hypertectonic coated pistons.
5.7" stock connecting rods.
400cu in Cast steel crankshaft.
mellings double roller timing chain.
Comp Cams Duration 284/305, Lift .507/.525 (nitrous cam)
Stock oil pump and pan.
Everything is balanced.
I called the guy about the heads and he bought them from a friend who got into a car accident and never used them, then he never used them because he ended up going to a BBC. The heads have stud girdles and he wasnt sure if they have been ported, but according to him they "look shiney on the insides like they've been polished." he also said the only number he saw at the time was 7763.
Anyone want to give me opinions or feedback? Im debating wether or not to buy the heads.
Rest of the car:
1988 Formula
700R4 Automatic.
Built 10 bolt 4.11 gears
Spohn SFCs Spohn LCAs LCARBs Spohn Tq Arm and crossmember.

The 70cc chamber is what I want to keep my compression ratio down a little bit, but why do you think the 215cc runners are too much? Ive heard alot of people using these on a 350 with good results, I thought with a 388 they would be even better???
I am looking for a high horse power motor that will be able to be "streetable"
How much more cam can be used and also keep it idleing on the street im already with Duration 284/305, Lift .507/.525... I think these heads for $800 is a good price that is the only reason I am leaning towards them...
Oh, my carb is a 750cfm Barry Grant Speed Demon
He has all kinds of calculators and comparison charts for Head flow vs rpm vs hp, injector flows ect. just look up your numbers and learn something new.
