t-5 question

ok i'm looking into getting a t-5 transmission in my 88 hardtop to get me buy for now, but i see everyone asking for the tag numbers , i'm sure has to do with gear ratios and design, put currently mine is a auto and doing the swap, tag number is wg 13-52-072, any info on this would be great. , i have some more work i have to perform before i can throw down a couple grand for a tko. and if this t-5 survives then it will transplanted into my 86 iroc t-top.

Re: t-5 question

sometimes the tag eventually falls off the tranny, your best bet would be to get a T-56 instead of a t-5, believe me from experience, I have a 350 modded pretty good(street) running high 12's (12.97) on motor with a World Class(WC) T-5 and my countershaft broke, and that's without power shifting my T-56 has been on there for a couple of years now and it's still taking the abuse...I found my T-56 for $700.00 at a junkyard......

Re: t-5 question

My T5 is a freak, well over 400 HP at the flywheel and beating the crap out of it and it is still in one piece!

Re: t-5 question

i'm currently running a 350 with 350 horse and 385 ftlbs of torque, i've looked all over the place around here and nobody has any t-56's. i just don't want to pop in a t-5 and not be able to drive it to the local gas station without having to worry about not making it back hahaha

Re: t-5 question

I have a T-5 in my 92 RS and it has to be rebuilt but I would hope so with nearly 190k on it and it has never been touched. Even knowing and hearing the bearings I still get up on it and power shift when the servo's aren't telling me no.
