on firebirds there is a fuse near the battery that if removed will shut down computer. you will know the right one it's a blade fuse in its own housing. when pulled and key on there will be no engine light and car will not start.
Disconnect Battery cables, battery, take the fuse out that was mentioned, you can also take the wire out that goes to the coil, if yours on not in the cap. Take out the rotor, ummm.... Disconnects throttle, or just the pedal, take out clutch button behind pedal (stick). Unplug wires that go into dizzy. Disconnect fuel pump, drain tank, Hell, you could even take ign wires if you want. There are TONS of ways to make sure no one can take the car.
i would remove the fuse to the computer, disable the clutch (as previously mentioned) and disconnect the fuel pump. i think with those three it wouldnt go anywhere

no ones gona be able to figure those all out if some one did try to steal it they may figure one out then just think the car didnt run and thats y its in storge
A hidden fuel pump cutoff is nice. You could always take the steering wheel.
Like anything, its not prevention, its deterrence. Make something else appear to be the easier target and they might leave yours alone. But do all those, and it will still be easy to hook+go.

Put it on cinderblocks. Noone steals a car without wheels, heh.

ya deterrence help alot cause with my camaro i would find things telling me people where tryin to ge t in my car then i gota club and no one tryed to steal it since
If I wanted to help prevent my car from being stolen from a storage unit.
I would disconnect the fuel pump at that connector in the back of the car that is behind the rear seat area.
Then order a wheel boot or two, or take the wheels off and put it up on blocks.
Like it has been said, that won’t prevent a flat bed tow truck, but will prevent the old smash and grab.
The goal isn’t to prevent car theft that is impossible; the goal is to make your car not worth the effort.
P.S. If you are going to store your car in a storage unit, find one in a decent area.
i know all about the hook+up and tow... tard came by my house in the middle of the day with a flat bed and grabbed my camaro and ran... thankfully i have the most friggen nosey neighbors in the world... got the car back in 3 hours...
no someone called and told the tow truck that they owned the car and wanted it towed to the scrap yard cause the engine was blown.... should have seen the tow guys face when i showed up with the keys and fired it up... it was sorta like please dont call the cops...please...

seriously, this is the best way. If the car is in long term storage, it should not be sitting one the tires anyway. the tires will get flatspots. Just put the car on jack stands or blocks, take the wheels home. Take the battery too, it will just die in teh car anyway. if you feel ambitious, and have the tools, take the steering wheel.

Glad you arrived to stop them. I can just picture their faces when you showed up. LOL

Hey man that sounds like a good idea...I looked for this fuse the other day but have no idea what i'm looking for...do you have a picture? can you explain it in detail?
Also where is the ignition coil wire everyone talks about? I have no idea what it looks like...
My car has something nifty the previous owner wired up for it. You cannot start the car without pulling the headlight knob out which obviously turns the headlights on, The horn will sound if you turn the key and not pull it out, you can drive with the headlight knob pushed in like normal. I cant tell you how many times i forgot to tell mechanics to do this and i get phone calls saying "how the hell do you start your car". its simple and along with the other mentioned tactics it works for anti theft all season.
Its pretty interesting, i have been meaning to see how its wired up but i keep forgetting to when i have my dash apart. PLus it works very well, and considering out cars were once the most stolen cars in america i would think its a good investment. I though it was a factory anti theft system untill a month ago, plus i told my insurance company about it an they gave me a discount. They counted it as a premium anti theft system or something like that.
How about a car alarm or the club. i'd go with that cause it's the easiest and car alarms make you look cool when your walking away and you arm it in front of ppl especially hot chicks. I don't worry about ppl wanting to steal my cars cause my saturn is a pile, they can have it, and my formula has a fuel pump switch. however i have had things stolen out of my cars. some kid stole my leather jacket and my curve colone.
It's funny, when ever i get insurance set up i always lie and save money. i always tell them i have a car alarm, daytime running lights, all kinds of air bags, yata yata..

Your car would be like the house Richard Pryor bought in the movie "Moving."
No spark plug wires, no spark plugs, no distributor, no shifter, no steering wheel, car on blocks.....
