Alright, soo I've been having a starting issue, sounds like it wants to turn over, but it just won't.
So I'm buying an ICM and fuel filter today in hopes that one or both will help.
Throwing parts at it is never the right idea. I'm guessing you mean it turns over but doesn't start. Do you hear the fuel pump run for a second or two when you turn the key on?
Well, In a previous thread, that noone was replying in, I had mentioned that when I try to start it, the engine "chugs" for only but a second after I flip the key and shuts off.
I was thinking maybe the fuel rods aren't firing, or since I haven't gotten a new fuel filter in a few years, that could be my issue.
I'm aware of a few other possibilities, someone once told me that maybe the battery cables are bad, but I get power and all, so I don't think that is the issue.
But, I hear a noise, the sillinoid, and that's is, I can't describe the noise, because I think it's the rear hatch motor since my rear hatch is busted from someone....
Ok, so I replaced the battery, I took it to Autozone and Pepboys and both their equipment said my old bat was no good.
Got home and stuck it in. I turned the key to crank it over and it started, didn't stall. Let it sit for about 5 minutes to see if it would stall. I also heard and Knock, not a loud knock, but a noticable one, it did though start to fade.
I'm assuming the knock might because I neglected to put oil in the car, though I put some in 2 days ago, hence why I let it run to get the oil to circulate through the engine.
Thought to back it up and then drive it foward to see what it would do. I put it in reverse and I pressed the accelerator, the only thing that it did was coast from the idle torque and then it actually did stall out. I cranked it over again and tried to drive it forward, had to have a friend help push it forward, only moved from the idle torque in drive. I put it back into nuetral and just pressed the accelerator, it wouldn't go above 1200 rpms and slowly got worse and chugged and eventually stalled out again.
This time I left it and came inside to post.
I just wanted to let you guys know again that I abused it by not putting oil in it.
Is there anything that could happen with lack of oil that could cause this?
Any questions or insight please, I really need some help, heh...
What, are you in a fantasy, I don't appreciate your criticism, thank you.
The terminology you need to use is CRANK and RUN.
Based your above statement hook a voltmeter to your battery, then crank it.
The voltage needs to be about 9 volts.
If it’s good hook the voltmeter to the starter and crank.
If it’s much less than the previous reading your cable(s) are bad / dirty where they connect.
.
For you info, terminology is usually based apon the type of lifestyle you're raised around, here they use turn over and chug along with many many more.
Thanks for being so closed minded.
Happy Racing!

Thanks for everything, you've been such a great help.
On some motors there will be running problems or not even run at all if there is no crankcase pressure i.e. not enough oil.
make sure there is enough oil in the car before you run it.
The oil is there for a reason and no good can come from metal rubbing against metal without any lubricant. Rapid erosion occurs of components.
Just adding a couple of quarts should see noticeable results.
Just don't run that sucker dry.
If there's a serious oil leak it should be repaired without delay to avoid costly repairs to the motor...perhaps even replacement.
I'm hoping this info may be of use to you.
Good luck with your issues man.
Thanks, I put in 3 quarts 3 days ago, I really haven't been able to even get it started lately even with the new battery, I'm having my gf's father come down to look at it tomarrow hopefully considering he's master mechanic for these types of vehicle including a few others.
I'm just getting told a few different things, and I just don't have the money to be throwing at it, you know... (sigh)
I hope you get fixed up
I once had a car that popped the sump plug on me whilst driving at 70 mph in the dark.
just a clunk under the car like ding dink....10 seconds later i cruised to a complete stop and motor shut down.
Unable to start it again.
a few minutes of looking around I discovered the whole underside covered in fresh black oil.
A quick feel around in the dark and I determined the missing sump plug..lol
not good news in the middle of nowhere.
My friend came to tow me.
I had a brainwave to plug the hole like an old buddy showed me on a compressor (industrial construction type). I tapered the end of a stick...drove it into the hole and turned it a bit with channel locks.
Added a couple of quarts of oil and I Was able to limp her home.
Got me out of a serious bind.
That's what led me to my suggestion about the crankcase pressure.
Maybe I'm right and maybe I'm wrong.
However I still wish you luck on fixing the problem.
