Re: chevy 355 need heads hmmm hmmm

After going with Vortecs.... I'd go with the Vette heads if I had to do it all over again. But my motor isn't running yet so we'll see.

InfernalVorex, can you elaborate a bit. I was under the impression that the majority of TGO considered stock Vortecs to be far superior to stock L98 heads. Unless of course were not talking about stockers anymore, or you need the 54cc chambers offered by L98 heads.

i would like to know the answer to that one too.
im down to getting heads and looking at everything possible. my only problem with the l98 heads is no exhaust pass through.
does anyone know if you can machine a pass through for our tpi system?

Tony, i dont think it's possible. It would have to go through the water jacket of the head.

thanks for that info. i noticed that a lot of these heads seem to have one hole in the center of the two mounting bolts - looks like a drill hone and never could figure out what it was. well whatever it is, its not what i need.
thanks again.

Just my two-cents, the cost/trouble of porting your stock TPI manifold and adding aftermarket runners is almost the cost of a bare holley stealthram, which will provide considerably more airflow should you decide to move past the 350hp mark.

Re: chevy 355 need heads hmmm hmmm

i can port it at a shop myself for free i am on a budget i plan on building a full 350 hp engine with full exaust for 1500. already bought a 355full engine with eagle rebuild with 10,000 miles on it it was babyed for 50$ (yea thats right) has rebuilt 305 heads on it now. how about porting the heads to the max would this be good for 350hp? was gonna throw on some emissions legal hooker mid lenths with a nice exaust might make it myself idk. idk how i been surviving the police in this town but the last time my car was inspected was 2004 and i pass cops all day never get pulled over. i would like it to pass emissions tho as you can only push your luck so far as its a daily driver
