I have been getting mixed info about stock valve covers with 1.6 roller tip rockers on a 350 TPI. Do they fit as is, with some trimming or do I need a tall set of valve covers? I would prefer to keep stock covers but if I need to change to a tall setup what would be similar to stock? Summitracing part: 1418-16

there are rockers made specifically for this, and they do cost more, plus you may need to elongate your pushrod slots.

you can also get special pieces that fit between your stock covers and the heads - to lift it a little. that might give you all the lift you need.
but atilla is right about this - one of the most knowledgeable people on the topic. if you have center bolts you also need to get the thin rockers too.

He's not talking about full roller rockers, just roller tip. They should fit fine, been there done that. You might have to mess with the pushrod slot if your heads happen to have the narrow pushrod slot, its kind of hit and miss especially if someone has been in there before.

good catch, but there's little point in roller tips. They do limit your rpm, but as for the claim of reducing valve stem and valve guide wear, that's less true the closer your pushrod length is to the theoretical perfect. 99% of the benefit of full rollers is in the middle, not out at the tip. In fact, to compensate for the extra weight of a roller tip, you would have to get titanium retainers, but you're probably not turning much over 6000 rpm.
